First trawl of the cruise!
Hello everyone!
This is Bianca Ruiz, a master’s student in Dr. Tracey Sutton’s lab at Nova Southeastern University, coming to you live from the R/V Point Sur as we kick off our DP10 cruise!
Day one was a success! After the crew assembled our MOC10 nets and set up the lab, it was time to start collecting samples. Our first net of the cruise was deployed on April 22nd at 2100 and retrieved on April 23rd at 0230.

On our way!

Hello, everyone! Heather J. here and wanted to share what we’ve been up to since arriving to our home for the next two weeks, the R/V Pt. Sur docked in Gulfport, MS. Yesterday was a flurry of activity as the team loaded gear, put equipment together and made sure we had everything ready to head out by midnight.

On The Boat Again
Another DEEPEND Cruise is fast approaching! Gear is being gathered and packed for the drive up to Gulfport, MS and scientists are preparing for the trek out to the Gulf for 12 days at sea.

Another successful cruise in the books!
Hi everyone! Heather J here to share that the DEEPEND team has made it to their homes today- we spent some time breaking down the lab, nets, and acoustics Tuesday and Wednesday, loading the truck and helped packed the last samples this morning at 3:30 am. Whew!
