Calling it a wrap on DSB2!
Hello, everyone-
Heather J. here for the last blog of our adventure! We have gotten back to port and chaos ensues as we unpack the lab, remove equipment from the deck, and load the van and other vehicles for their respective trips home.
We left Shepards Mound (our third sampling site) and arrived at the lander location for it's retrieval early yesterday morning. We disassembled the MOC after the 2 am samples were collected and washed the nets down so they could dry while underway. We then arrived at the lander site to retrieve it which went very smoothly! Once it was settled onboard and secured, we headed back to port, arriving last night.

Lander retreival, sample packing, and a cleaning party!
Overall, the trip was amazing all around- can't say a big enough THANK YOU to the R/V Point Sur crew; we had fabulous weather throughout the trip, and we collected so many samples that help drive our research objectives forward. We have one more DSB cruise next year and we can't wait. Until next time!
